ACCNow's Pick Six: Week Seven
All any man ever asks is to be given the opportunity to succeed or fail in a grand fashion, and I have just that this week as I go toe-to-toe-to-toe with the N&O's Joe Giglio and Caulton Tudor in picking the winner of six of this weekend's college football games.
The pressure's on, as last week the N&O duo were beaten by TarHeelFan, and to lose to a Tar Heel in picking college FOOTBALL games would be just downright shameful. They only care about basketball, right? This ain't January--it's still October.
You may disagree with any (or all) of my picks, but I can justify my decisions in all of them if you're curious to know what I was thinking.
So there you go. Wish me luck.

interesting. i disagree with every pick except the Kent State one.
ReplyDeletebe prepared to 1-5 and be mocked.
Wake Forest
LSU
Texas
ECU
UNC
Kent State
Hmm.
ReplyDeleteI'll go
Wake
Florida
Oklahoma
ECU
UNC
Ohio
- Wake will most likely be without Sam Swank, can't run the football and Jim Grobe is 2-5 versus Clemson since he's been at Wake.
ReplyDelete- Florida is 3rd in the nation in turnover margin and LSU is near the bottom. It's at the Swamp and I think Tim Tebow will step up to make Florida's case that they belong in the title game as a 1-loss team.
- Both Texas and Oklahoma are great at stopping the run, but Oklahoma is tops in the country in defending the pass, and they also are better at Texas than hanging onto the ball. I think they are legitimately the best team in the country, and Mack is 2-6 in the Red River Shootout this decade.
- ECU is a VASTLY worse team without Qunetin Cotten in the middle of the field (sounds like State minus Nate Irving, doesn't it?), and now they've suspended one of their top receivers indefinitely. Virginia found a QB in Marc Verica and should win at home.
- Notre Dame is my weakest pick, but I can't pick UNC. Just can't do it. It's the principle of the thing. And they're good enough to capitalize on any mistakes Carolina makes, like, say, Cam Sexton waking up from this dream he's in and reverting back to Cam Sexton.
- Ohio Sucks. Kent State sucks, too, but they can run the ball.
I just hope you're wrong about Wake beating Clemson. Ugggg, I'm sick of Wake!
ReplyDeleteWho, me? I have Clemson winning.
ReplyDeleteNot you, James C. I was talking about the author of this blog.
ReplyDeleteHeh heh! My fault. I clicked the link at the top and it took me to ACCNow's "Pick Six". I was thinking that was "the author's" picks, and that you were just some dude posting replied. ;)
ReplyDelete3rd and 24 Clemson...you had 'em. You had 'em.
ReplyDeleteLuckily all three of us had Clemson winning that game, so no harm, no foul.
looks like your VA pick is working out...
